Another Successful Spring Litter Pick Event

Spring has sprung in Collingbourne Ducis, and with it came a vibrant display of community spirit as residents joined hands for one of our largest clean-up events yet over the weekend. A staggering 44 volunteers dedicated their time and effort to sprucing up the village, ensuring it shines brightly as we transition into the warmer months.

Armed with gloves, bags, and an indomitable spirit, participants set out to tackle litter and debris scattered across the village, showcasing the power of collective action and the unwavering commitment of residents towards maintaining the beauty of our surroundings.

Together, we combed through streets, parks, and communal areas, collecting an impressive haul of rubbish. Approximately 12 full bags of litter were gathered, and among the items retrieved during the litter pick were unexpected discoveries, including two hubcaps, a bike, and even a car tyre.

However, the cleanup efforts didn't stop at just picking up litter. In a gesture of care towards communal spaces, our councillors and volunteers went above and beyond by undertaking additional tasks. They meticulously washed and scrubbed all benches and furniture at the recreation ground, ensuring they were pristine and inviting for residents and visitors alike. Furthermore, the councillors took it upon themselves to scrape the surface around the gym equipment and skate ramp, enhancing safety and usability for all.

There was a strong sense of community and camaraderie on Sunday. A wonderful reminder that when individuals come together with a shared goal, remarkable transformations can occur, leaving a lasting impact on the environment and the community as a whole.

As we bid farewell to winter and welcome the warmth of spring, let us carry forward the spirit of collaboration and stewardship demonstrated during the Spring Litter Pick event. Together, we can continue to nurture and preserve the beauty of Collingbourne Ducis, ensuring it remains a cherished haven for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, and thank you to The Tipple Inn for hosting us afterwards and providing refreshments to volunteers.

See you at the next one!
